Big Things are Happening 'Round Here

God is able to do Immeasurably More - Ephesians 3:20 - Scripture Nursery Print. $9.00, via Etsy.
Eph. 3:20

A few months ago we found ourselves in the midst of mixed emotions. Last September we closed on our land, which will one day become the building site of our forever home. Long before the land came through, we had begun trying to grow our family without success. We knew the obstacles we were up against in both situations.

My husband had set some specific parameters for our land purchase. It had to be at least the amount of acreage that we have now, it had to be close to his volunteer fire department, within our budget, must include a mountain view and must be within our current vicinity since our jobs have us driving in opposite directions. I know, I know. That's quite a list.

Through a sequence of events, we became privy to some information about a beautiful piece of property...that believe it or not, included ALL of my husband's "requirements". When God is involved (because He most certainly was) amazing things happen. This is just one special example of how God truly hears and answers our prayers. We made our move on the land and everything fell into place. Before we knew it we were signing our name on the (hundreds of) dotted lines.

While we were going through this process, we were still battling my infertility. I had people telling me that maybe we weren't supposed to have another baby right now and that we should just focus on selling our house and preparing the land. Yeah...that stung a little...oh ye of little faith.

I remember even saying in my prayers, why can't we have it all? Why can't we work on our dream home plans and add to our family? True, the situation may not be ideal but we both felt that the time was right and that we could have it all if the Lord allowed. He had already answered so many prayers. We truly believed He would answer this one.

I admit, it was not easy to keep the optimism. Month after month, meds and blood work, our dreams of another child were dashed. There were even a couple of months where my chart looked perfect and the timing of everything had been just right...I was certain we had been successful...but no.

Come October we had already met with our doctor several times to discuss various options. We knew what we were comfortable with and our hearts were getting heavy as we reached the end of our treatment. I had one more round available before we were done. No more treatment. No more blood work. We'd be moving on. We had decided that if this last round was unsuccessful, we'd focus solely on our house and then revisit our adoption paperwork. I was okay at that point. We had a plan.

October was a crazy busy month and I felt like we had so much riding on this last round. I was pumped to see that I had gotten a positive ovulation test. Game on! And then I came down with an infection. Knowing how delicate the whole situation of becoming pregnant really is, I had resigned myself to the fact that we were out this month.

On October 31st I was reminded that my God defines and defies the odds. If you look at my chart, it does not appear that I ever ovulated. Between that and my illness, science would say I should not be announcing the news that I am about to share...

WE ARE PREGNANT! Our precious miracle is due in July and we are over the moon!

So yes, you can have it all. Your dreams can come true. For those of you battling infertility...don't lose heart. Big things can happen. At this point we're working on our house in preparation for sale. We plan to put it on the market in March (or sooner). All of this will take place while we also prepare to welcome our precious babe in July.

I look forward to sharing how we announced our news and what has been going since our BFP.

We've "Landed"

"FORGET THE RISK and the the FALL If It's What You Want Then It's Worth It ALL" Print Poster 12" x 8" NEW Motivational Inspirational Quote Home Wall Decor Wisdom

I'm way behind in posting an update on our land. In September we closed on our new property...28.4 acres of land just waiting to welcome us. Signing on the property was both anxiety and joy filled. We've been praying for a while about what our next steps would be in moving. We didn't know where we'd find land that would meet our needs, but as always, the Lord exceeded our expectations. We have the where so now we're waiting on the when.

The day we signed the papers
While we wait, I drive by it every chance I get. Sometimes I'll just pull in and dream.  I'm already in love with what will be our view.

A couple weeks ago we took the four wheeler out so that I could see the property in its entirety.

Our land currently has 4 structures on site. There are 3 sheds, and I use that term pretty loosely, and an old, dilapidated house. I have plans to salvage some of the wood from the house and/or shed to make some DIY décor.

This time of limbo is a bit difficult. We're trying to finish up some things around our home so that we can prepare to put it up for sale. It's our hope to have it ready to go after the first of the year...we'll see. There's not necessarily any hurry other than I'm ready to get settled.

so true... There was a plack on the fireplace of our new home when we first looked at it, I decided then, we had to start out life there!

New Territory

This week has been challenging for various reasons. Open House has come and gone and the first day of school is just around the corner. I'm exhausted and school hasn't even begun! I've also been on an emotional roller coaster this week...I'm not sure if it's the hormone surge from the fertility meds or a change in the weather but it has been tough and after reading Elena's blog (baby Ridley bump) this week it appears I'm not the only one trying to push through these last few days. It was as if she and I had been living with parallel emotions this week. In order to keep face I've been trying to focus on the great things we've had going lately.

Over the last couple months we've been working towards one of our goals. My husband and I have been praying to move for quite some time. I would personally be fine with moving into another house but my husband (who up until the last few months did not want to even consider moving) compromised with the "I'll move if we can build." Okay. That settles it. The search for land began. We've been eyeing properties for quite some time and either the price wasn't right or the amount of property wasn't to my husband's liking.

Then a gift fell from Heaven. Pardon the theatrics but the way we came to learn about this particular piece of property, the way the loan and funding came together and the land itself were truly gifts from God.

I now present to you (now that I can officially do so) the piece of land that we'll eventually build our dream home upon.

You're looking at a beautiful view that backs our 28.4 acre track. I will have a deck that allows me to enjoy the scenery.

Since making the deal official we've been scoping out floor plans. It's a bit overwhelming but super fun at the same time! We've also been looking at various decorating and paint pallet options. Here are a few ideas we're quite partial to...

[Living Room]
Neutral Living Room...
Neutral Living Room
We have dark brown living room furniture but I love the color pallet and we could make it work with our current furniture.
great idea for holding back curtains in rusting/woodland themed living room
Twig Curtains

[Kitchen]
Should we decide to build a home that allows for an informal and formal eating area, this is an idea that I adore. I love the big windows and the comfy seating.
Love the built in eating area, would love to incorporate this along the wall in my kitchen
Informal eating area

Different colored wood on floor from that of the cabinet with black pearl countertops!
Kitchen with Island (and Double Ovens of course)

[G's Big Girl Room]

I've been eyeing lots of mermaid related themes for G's big girl room. This is just one of the ideas that I really like...I do think I'd probably opt for a slightly softer color scheme though. You can see more mermaid theme ideas here.
little mermaid nursery! Some of these items are beautiful! You will love this too @Courtney Meister !!!

[Laundry Room]
I've never had a "laundry room". In college our washer/dryer sat in the kitchen. Currently our machines are housed in our basement...not the most convenient of situations...so when I saw this laundry room design I instantly fell in love.

love this laundry room - window, counters, shelves, cabinets, etc.

These are just a few of the ideas I've pinned to my various New House boards. While this girl dreams of many things, I can focus on the tasks at hand and maybe, just maybe, even more wonderful things will follow.

Any insight or advice about building a home would be greatly appreciated!
