Currently: January 2017

I have not done a “currently” post in a while. It has been a challenging few months to say the least. My life has taken lots of altering turns since I last posted this type of piece in September 2016. Who knew that only a month later things would look so different.

Thinking About: I am thinking about all of the things I need to do in February. There is a lot to plan and look forward to. I’ve also been doing a lot of self-reflection, which has been both enlightening and difficult.

Working On: I am working on pulling ideas from my New House Pinterest boards. We sold our house at the beginning of January and in a couple of weeks we’ll meet with our builder to settle on final selections that will eventually bring the look of our new house together. The kitchen and living room have always been the heart of our home. I am so excited about finally having a streamline style throughout the house. Here are a few of the ideas inspiring the look of our new home.

Learning: I am re-learning how to live happy. My joy cannot be taken. It comes from my love and relationship with Jesus. My happiness however, comes and goes. I have to choose my attitude. I used to be so “glass half full” but for a while now, I’ve felt that cup emptying. I am re-learning how to rejoice in ALL things. I am choosing to look on the bright side.

Watching: The only two shows I currently watch faithfully are Alone and Curse of Oak Island. I do not watch much television and we try to not let it necessarily be how we spend our family time so I am always behind on the latest TV drama. However, when these two shows are on (which are thankfully on after the kids go to bed) you can find me propped on the couch, eyes glued to the screen. These are shows that both my husband and I enjoy together.

Listening to: The radio. The CD player in my Jeep is malfunctioning and until my hubs can fix it, I find myself listening to our favorite radio station, 88.3 The Journey.

Reading: Wild by Cheryl Strayed. I’ve read several books this month. In fact, I’ve read more this past month than I have in the last few years. I hope to do a review post soon. I’ve been carving out reading time in the evenings as a way of working on self-care. Since meeting with my new counselor, I’ve become more motivated to take care of myself again.

Trying: I am trying to get back into my low carb way of eating. I did pretty well last week and lost almost 3lbs. I knew this would be a challenge and the last few days have been what I would consider flops. I just have to remind myself that every choice counts. My menu for February is looking good and I am becoming more determined daily. I have goals that I want to reach and I have things that I want to see happen. Some of these things are heavily influenced by my weight. I can do this!

Loving: I am loving my husband. The last few months have helped me see him with fresh eyes. He has changed in so many amazing ways and I am SO proud of the man he has become. God has been working in both of us and I find myself frequently falling in love with my sweet hubs over and over again. The pain and healing we have gone through since October has only strengthened our relationship together and as a couple with God. Life with him is not always beautiful, but it is our kind of perfect.

Currently September

We're finally feeling settled (for now). Our goal to have the house on the market October 1 was a bust, but we're super close! Life has just been a lot more than we bargained for lately.

I know I'll look back on these "currently" posts one day and be reminded of how far we've come.

So...hello October. Currently I am...

Thinking About: How we'll celebrate our 8th anniversary at the end of this month.

Working On: Getting over a sinus infection. No fun.

Learning: How to balance a new school year with big demands and finding time to be completely available for my family...I've kind of given up on "me time".

Watching: FOOTBALL!

Listening to: Casting Crowns' Thrive cd. My daughter calls it her 'Jesus music' and we play it every time we get in the Jeep.

Trying: To carve out a little "me time".

Loving: Some new experiences I've been having. I have begun teaching some courses at our city's newest art studio. The Makery is an amazing place that offers a lot of unique classes. In fact, I'll be doing some cupcake decorating courses this month! If you are local, please join us!

Currently: August 2016

Looks like I am headed to MTL:
I apologize for my absence. Life lately has been nothing short of chaotic. Over the month of July and into (now) August, we have been going non-stop. We went on vacation in mid-July. We returned to find out that an opportunity for us to move from our house into a rental had presented itself. This will prayerfully make our selling of the house easier. Because of this opportunity, the last 2 weeks solid have been filled with moving, unpacking, and working on the old house…I go back to work for Teacher Work Week August 8 and our daughter will start preschool for the first time that day as well.
I’ve also been presented the opportunity to serve as an instructor for some local art projects at a new art studio in town. The Makery is my friend’s dream and she has done an amazing job putting it together. I am so proud of her!

So…here’s what we have currently…
Thinking About: The lengthy to-do list that we have to finish before putting our house up for sale.
Working On: Projects at the old house, unpacking at the rental, stressing over lesson plans and School Open House this week.

Learning:
God’s timing is ultimately perfect despite whatever inconveniences I might perceive.

Watching: The Olympics…and old videos of G when she was smaller. How is it that she is going to preschool already?!

Listening to:
Anything Lauren Daigle

Trying: I’m trying to feel less overwhelmed…but seeing as I’ve been doing a lot of stress baking lately, that’s not happening. While the change is good, it brings with it a lot of upheaval. I’m ready for our new normal and getting back into a routine.
Gods timing is not always the timing we would like. That's when patience is a virtue.:

Loving: I’m loving that Fall is right around the corner. I’m so over these summer temperatures and Fall means football!!!

Currently: September

N is really working his smile these days
Holy moly! September is working its way out. This is nuts! This October will be bittersweet so I'm not trying to rush anything. Here's what's going on...

Thinking about: Our upcoming vacation. We're going out of town to meet up with my mom and two sisters. The four of us have not been together since my dad's funeral in 2012. My middle sister has yet to meet both her niece and nephew and my youngest sister has not met her nephew. It's about time if I don't say so myself.

Working on: October's monthly menu. This starts the first of 12 much smaller monthly paychecks, so it's even more important that I plan spending savvy.

Learning: To simplify. There are a lot of things in my life that I don't understand and can't control right now...but there are still things that I can control and that's what I need to focus on. I was encouraged by a friend to read The Life-changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo. I just got it today and have read half way through it already thanks to naps and feedings. I'm already so inspired.

Watching: The Middle. Reruns are on daily during naptime. Sometimes this mommy needs a little break too...

Listening to: G "read" Baby Bear, Baby Bear, What Do You See? Seriously. Adorable.
When she's not reading she's outside enjoying the beautiful weather

Trying: to sort through all that we've aquire these last 7 years. Despite all that we thrown away, sold and donated, there is still so much! I'm ready to just throw it all in bags and haul it off.

Feeling: Both overwhelmed about returning to work and excited about living out what I'm learning in our new Sunday School bible study.

Loving: My sweet babes and all things Fall!
